Breaking Through With Jahnah Camille

Jahnah Camille’s second single from her upcoming EP My sunny oath! (Winspear, June 13) “sit with you (pain)” gives glimpses of a relationship at a stalemate.

Starting out with the unsteady strum of an acoustic guitar, the song adds layers of lovely vocal textures and arpeggiated guitars, before the climax of strangled distortion reminiscent of “Mayonnaise” by the Smashing Pumpkins.

It’s the sound a guitar would make gasping for breath in the midst of an emotional breakdown. It’s a bit melodramatic, but I think that’s probably a selling point for most folks listening. Check out the video for “sit with you (pain)” below:

On May 28, Camille will embark on a run of West Coast shows supporting indie rocker Blondshell (including a sold out gig at the Fonda Theatre in L.A.). The full list of dates and cities can be found on Winspear’s website.
